EVENT & FLORAL DESIGNERS | BETHANY KLEPPICK & JULIE START | SAPPHIRE & LACE
Q & A with Bethany Kleppick and Julie Start, the dynamic creative sister duo behind Sapphire & Lace Event Design.
Can you share a bit of your background with us?
Our business was born out of our love for meaningful details, family traditions, celebrations & weddings! Bethany had been working for a wedding planner in Pittsburgh for a few years making connections and learning the ins and outs of the industry while Julie was always pursuing creative projects when we both became engaged in the same year. After planning the design and executing the floral's and decor for both of our weddings we knew we had the passion and skills to help other brides understand their style and visions for their wedding day.
What can you share with us about your beautiful studio space?
The Cottage! We love our cottage and it was so important to us to create a space where our clients instantly feel welcomed and at home. We wanted to create a safe space where our clients feel comfortable to tell us their wants and visions for their dream wedding day. We hold our consultations here, do all of our designing, and have the ability to host intimate events and workshops, so we created a space that inspires us and others.
What is the Sapphire & Lace philosophy?
Thoughtful style that's steeped in your traditions and infused with your story.
Where does the inspiration that fuels your creativity come from?
We are inspired by the seasons and our surroundings in nature, fashion and textiles, architecture & interiors, and of course, family traditions.
What is the best part about what you do?
Seeing the joy and excitement on our couple's faces when we deliver their flowers. We don't usually see the couple's after the ceremony but sometimes their photographer will capture their reactions during their first peak at their reception space. Seeing their expressions and knowing we made their visions come to life is the BEST.
Photographers Notes: We really enjoyed our visit with Julie and Bethany. We ended up staying so long that our two editorials with them turned into THREE! Come back next Wednesday for a peek into what happens during a consultation. We loved the process and can't wait to share with you what they created while we photographed them.
