AL FRESCO MOTHER'S DAY BRUNCH | THE WHOLE FAMILY CAN HELP MAKE
Who doesn't like to eat al fresco? And certainly for Mother's Day Brunch it's the ultimate experience. We photographed a great brunch set up for you....so easy to do that we recruited two teenagers. We had Amanda Stanek from The Kitchen Shoppe in Volant, PA to help them out with some great tools and easy recipes.
First up: mini quiches! Amanda brought a 24 mini muffin tin and a super easy recipe for the girls to follow. The recipe calls for two pre-made pie crusts, two eggs, 3/4 cup of half-and-half. Combined with whatever filler you want. The girls made three different kinds: basil, tomato, gruyere; bacon, gruyere; roasted red pepper, spinach, gruyere. They baked them at 375 for about 20 minutes.
Yogurt parfaits were also on the menu, starting with a base of granola followed by yougurt, fresh fruit and a sprig of mint.
Next up a cheese boards. Amanda helped the girls slice the cheese with a 'wavy cutter' and then assembled the various cheeses: brie, sharp cheddar, Jarlsberg, sharp white, marinated olives, grapes, crackers, and basil.
Fabric was cut, folded and tied with flatware. A few 'Snowball Viburnum' branches were clipped for a centerpiece from the side yard. A small side table and chairs were moved outside, as well as plates and stemware.
The food, freshly assembled and ready to be taken to the table. (source of serving boards listed below)
As you can see, Mother's Day Brunch doesn't have to be complicated. As with everything in life, enjoy the process and the people you are with. We think your mum will be thrilled just to have the opportunity to spend time with you. Sparkling Pomegranate juice adds a fun pop of color and everyone of all ages can enjoy it as well!
Mini Muffin Tins, Wavy Cutter and the GORGEOUS walnut and cherry boards are for sale at Amanda's The Kitchen Shoppe in Volant, PA. The boards are handmade locally and available in 5 varieties of wood. Each one is truly a work of art.
