VINTAGE FINDS LAYERED WITH TEXTURE AND COLOR TRANSFORM A COLLEGE DORM ROOM

VINTAGE FINDS LAYERED WITH TEXTURE AND COLOR TRANSFORM A COLLEGE DORM ROOM

Most college students would think that it’s impossible to fit 5 lamps and 11 plants in their 11’x14’ room, but not Chris Israel.  A senior Business Administration major at Westminster College, he’s collected a plethora of pieces that aesthetically come together to make this tiny space a home.

Chris’s passion for design began early. At 13 years old he began to sketch kitchen layouts.  He finds peace in experimenting with different cabinet colors, backsplash tiles, and configurations of appliances.  He even goes so far as naming his kitchen design company, Christopher Thomas Designs.

“Today I express my creativity by designing spaces such as my own room and Westminster’s showroom located in Shaw Hall. My style is unique in that I don’t follow trends; instead I find pieces that fill well together. When I walk into a space I want it to feel like I’m at home, not just visiting.”

"What I love most about my space is that it is an ever changing projection of who I am, and I’m excited to see how the future shapes my aesthetic."
